We speak with Dr. Harry Carter about the founding times of the African-American Jazz preservation Association of Pittsburgh. Harry Clark gets an award as a jazz hero Sunday night at Alphabet City. Mensah Wali of Kente arts shares insights about the upcoming event on May 5 from Trombonist Craig Harris.

We’ll remember the vibraphonist Dave Samuels who passed away this week and hear music from Wynton Marsalis from a new film about Buddy Bolden the legendary trumpeter from the earliest days of jazz.
