Reggie Watkins, Jessica Lee, Piano Day Pittsburgh & Frank McComb for AAMI on the Scene on WZUM - Thursday at 6, Sunday at 5

Thursday night at 6, repeated Sunday at 5 on “THE SCENE” on WZUM - we visit with trombonist Reggie Watkins and talk about the Steeltown Horns at the Monroeville Jazz Festival, August 17.

We also visit with guitarist Mark Strickland and vocalist Jessica Lee on the preview day of Piano Day Pittsburgh, August 24th - and we play music from Frank Cunimondo, who will be among the many pianists playing for Piano Day in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District, August 25th.

Plus, music from Frank McComb as he pays tribute to Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea. McComb headlines the August 31st celebration and fundraiser for the 37th Anniversary of the Afro American Music Institute at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater.

Finally, a preview of Sonny Barbato at Heid House on Sunday, August 11 - with a vintage performance with Barbato on Accordion joined by George Heid, George Jones, and Jimmy Ponder.

Also, a reminder about the Pittsburgh Jazz Days of Summer are August 17-25 with now more than 60 jazz dates during the week - and for the month of August, we count more than 230 gigs!

All on the radio on WZUM!
