Marty Ashby, VP & Executive Producer of MCG Jazz welcomes vocalist and songwriter René Marie as a guest host for the MCG Jazz Spotlight. René Marie appeared at MCG Jazz on a double-bill with trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis in the Spring.

René Marie started her impressive vocal career after the age of 40 and has had many impressive recordings and performances since she burst on to the national scene. She shares songs from her own recordings, such as “Black Lace Freudian Slip,” “This is (Not) a Protest Song” and a reworking of “My Country 'Tis of Thee.” She also shares favorites from Nancy Wilson, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone.
