This week on “The Scene,” a salute to Pittsburgh native and legendary jazz composer and arranger Sammy Nestico.

Thursday nights at six, Sundays at 5, join Scott Hanley for the The Scene on WZUM, and a special encore broadcast Tuesday, February 12 at noon!

Friday and Sunday night at 6 on WZUM, Marty Ashby, VP & Executive Producer of MCG Jazz and Renée J. Govanucci, Director, MCG Jazz, highlight music from the Pittsburgh Jazz days of Winter and a sampling of the great sounds set for February 16-23 all around the Pittsburgh region.

A couple of weeks ago, CBS on Saturday Morning did a very nice look back at the Iconic Art Kane photo published in Esquire Magazine at the start of 1959.

The photo was taken in 1958 with 57 iconic jazz artists. There’s a a new book about the photo and the times around it.
