Remembering Richie Cole on WZUM - Extended Cut

From Scott Hanley, of WZUM - Sunday night at 8, an extended version of our celebration of the life of Richie Cole.

About 7 years ago, Richie put down roots in Pittsburgh at the encouragement of one of his daughters, Annie. That is the perspective from which the coming program will be centered.

The community of Pittsburgh and the neighboring suburb of Carnegie play a major role in the last chapter of Richie Cole’s musical career - and Richie Cole’s impact on the Pittsburgh music scene, in return.

Once things started to pull back in March, WZUM worked in a different way, connecting with the Pittsburgh jazz scene near and far - as we all learned to connect differently.

Holiday Sounds from All Over

Holiday Sounds from All Over

This has been a most unusual holiday season - we see friends and neighbors online and through video as much as more in person, but old traditions still hold firm.

A lot of sharing going on - and we share sounds from friends and neighbors all over — pianist Bob Alberti shared this video from pianist and trumpeter Randy Waldman. We also share holiday sounds from Kenny Blake, Sean Jones, Tania Grubbs, Johnny Costa, Deanna Witkowski, Joe Negri and a few other surprises.

Thursday at 6, Friday and Saturday at noon, Sunday at 5pm
