With the lifting of many COVID-19 mitigations, more and more clubs and venues are opening up in the Pittsburgh region - and in the month of July, we see the likelihood of more than 120 different events, inside, outside and online in the jazz scene - including a Pittsburgh Jazz Extravaganza at the Pittsburgh Playhouse.

Listen to the SCENE on WZUM - Thursday night at 6, Friday and Saturday at noon, Sunday afternoon at 5.

Erroll Garner's 100th, Father and Fatha's Day, and Juneteenth Jazz in June - The Scene on WZUM

Erroll Garner's 100th birthday! This is also Father’s Day weekend - we play some Fatha (Hines) and also music from a wonderful Pittsburgh jazz Family Album, Fathers and Sons, featuring the Aliquos, Johnsons, DeFades, DePaolis, Ashbys, Benack and more.

With the advent of Juneteenth, a great celebration of black music will be shared at Point State Park, including jazz events on June 18th, 22nd and a major day long event on June 24th. We highlight some that, too.

The Scene - Thursday at 6pm, Friday and Saturday at noon, Sunday afternoon at 5.

The Storms of June - and some outages for the morning

The mix of sunshine and strong thunderstorms, Sunday have left some of WZUM on, some of WZUM off. We are still on the air via 88.1 FM, AM 1550 and online at WZUM.org, but 101.1 FM in downtown Pittsburgh has signal outages with both main and backup systems.

We are working with vendors and technology to resolve the problems as soon as possible.

Hoping a safe, pleasant Monday for everyone, and more jazz sounds, ahead!
