Terri Lyne Carrington on  the Scene on WZUM

Percussionist, professor, bandleader, composer and producer Terri Lyne Carrington plays Saturday night with her band Social Science at the Playhouse at Point Park, downtown March 18. Her new release of compositions - “New Standards” - by women composers just won her another Grammy. She was also on the grammy winner for the Wayne Shorter live recording “From the Detroit Jazz Festival” which honored the master before his passing weeks ago.

We visit with Terri Lyne about all her projects, and about her early times as a youth playing with trumpeter Clark Terry. The Scene - Thursday night at 6, Friday and Saturday at noon, Sunday at 5 on WZUM

5 Women Saxophone Stars in the MCG Jazz Spotlight

Marty Ashby is joined by five saxophone notables: Fostina Dixon, Virginia Mayhew, Erica Lindsay, Su Terry, and Laura J. Dreyer. They’ll be coming to Pittsburgh next weekend for a long-awaited performance, “5 Women Saxophone Journeys” at MCG Jazz.
