Jazz Scenes All Around
This weekend, Pittsburgh gets a visit from trumpeter Thomas Marriott of Seattle - a Maynard Ferguson band alum to town for two Friday shows at Con Alma that feature a tribute to Stanley Turrentine with Erik Lawrence and a sextet with Reggie Watkins, Jared Sims and Howie Alexander - both shows feature Pittsburgh jazz icon, drummer Roger Humphries.
We talk with Thomas about jazz, community, going on the road with Maynard - and how much he loves the Pittsburgh jazz scene.

Jazz History in our Midst
This week, we look at that history looking forward, to the “now” and to a century ago. Reflections of all of that scope are a part of what WZUM is all about. That includes connections on this weeks program between Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong and Earl “Fatha” Hines. We even have a story about Steve Turre - the trombonist for Saturday Night Live - and his respect for Pittsburgh’s Mr. Trombone, Harold Betters.
The Scene - Thursday at 6, Sunday at 5, Friday and Saturday at noon.
