Jenny Wilson

The Jenny Wilson Trio is a jazz ensemble focused on original music as well as choice classic and contemporary standards. Original compositions by Jenny have been influenced by Thelonius Monk, Wayne Shorter and Pat Metheny. Jenny will be accompanied by two of Pittsburgh’s finest young musicians, percussionist James Johnson III and her daughter, bassist Ava Lintz.

Jenny Wilson is a contemporary American jazz pianist, vocalist, classical flutist and composer. She graduating from the University of Maine with a degree in Jazz Studies and classical flute performance. Jenny has played with many European and American jazz and classical ensembles in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. She has recorded with Grammy winning pianist Art Lande and performed at the Zurich Jazz No Jazz Festival with singer Samira Mall Darby. Jenny has a Master of Music Degree from West Virginia University and is a full-time musician and painter. Her lengthy discography includes two full length recordings of original music.  

Ava Lintz

Ava Lintz

Ava Lintz grew up in Morgantown, WV with a family of musicians. She currently lives in Pittsburgh where she plays various gigs throughout the city. She studied bass with members of the Pittsburgh Symphony at Duquesne and Carnegie Mellon University. In 2015 she began playing with the Akron Symphony as assistant principal bass. She has also subbed with regional orchestras including the Erie Philharmonic, Canton Symphony, and Youngstown Symphony.

James Johnson III

James Johnson III

 Described as a musical chameleon with wide-ranging talents, James Johnson III adapts comfortably to a variety of genres. Precursory to his worldwide career, he attended Pittsburgh’s high school for the creative and performing arts (CAPA) where he was mentored by jazz great Roger Humphries. This laid the foundation for a stellar career that has included performing as a regular member with legendary jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal. His musical adventures have led him to play prestigious venues around the world such as North America, Europe, Africa and Japan.
