Roger Humphries is rated by music critics as one of the most exciting percussionists in the business. He has performed with music legends such as Ray Charles, Horace Silver, Richard "Groove" Holmes, Stanley Turrentine, Dizzy Gillespie, Lee Morgan, Coleman Hawkins, Grant Green, Lionel Hampton, Clark Terry, Joe Henderson, Freddie Hubbard, Jack McDuff, George Benson, John Faddis, Slide Hampton, Herbie Mann, and Randy Brecker and many others in his brilliant career. Roger has performed at some of the most prestigious jazz clubs and concert halls in the world including Carnegie Music Hall, the Village Gate and the Apollo Theatre in New York; the Bohemian Caverns and Shelly Manne's Manhole in Los Angeles; the Penthouse in Seattle; Pep's Lounge and Showboat in Philadelphia; the Jazz Workshop in Boston and Ronny Scott's in London. After playing with various groups around the country, in 1972, Roger organized his own band, RH Factor. In 1996, he assembled Roger Humphries' Big Band.

Roger holds an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from West Virginia Wesleyan College, and has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Trust’s inaugural JazzLive Legacy Award and the Governor’s Awards for the Arts.
