Vocalist Kenia: A Tribute to João Gilberto at Alphabet City / City of Asylum

Few artists embody a craft in the way that guitarist and vocalist João Gilberto embodies bossa nova. Gilberto, who is perhaps best-recognized for his work with Stan Getz and Antônio Carlos Jobim, has been called the king, the father, and the leading pioneer of modern Brazilian music.

In acknowledgement of the beloved figure’s passing in early July, Brazilian vocalist Kenia will be performing a repertoire packed with some of Gilberto’s most important compositions.

There is no admission fee but ticket reservations are required.
