Layale Chaker & Sarafand for Jazz Poetry Month - Alphabet City, North Side
Layale Chaker
Layale Chaker, a classically trained violinist and composer, weaves together classical music, Jazz, Arabic Music, and improvisation. Layale and her band, Sarafand, join us live from New York to perform their album Inner Rhyme. This award-winning debut album is a suite of music that explores the sounds, rhythms, rhymes, shapes, and forms of Arabic poetry.
The band will also improvise with poets from across the US and the Arabic speaking world. It’s the perfect kick off evening of Jazz Poetry 2021
There are two ways to watch the program: in-person at Alphabet City, 40 West North Ave, or live-streamed online.
