Drummer, composer, and bandleader James Johnson III returns to the Carnegie Carnegie Studio Jazz Series with an evening of dynamic, forward-thinking jazz.
A Pittsburgh native, Johnson began playing drums at age five and later studied at the city’s High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA), where he was mentored by legendary jazz drummer Roger Humphries. That early foundation led to an international performing career, including years touring with the acclaimed pianist Ahmad Jamal and appearances at major venues and festivals around the world..
