City of Asylum presents the 21st annual celebration of Jazz Poetry Month.
Jazz Poetry Month 2025, May 1–22, features 50+ artists, new and returning, making their way to our stage from near and far. Jazz Poetry Month is a tradition that traces back to the very heart of City of Asylum.
Jazz Poetry Month 2025 will also feature a return for the first COA poet-in-residence, Huang Xiang on May 22.
The line of severe storms that tore through the region Tuesday led to a power outage and electronics damage that has disrupted WZUM’s services. We hope to back up and running by Wednesday afternoon.

Sean Jones is a gifted trumpeter, bandleader, composer, educator, and and activist. He has always intertwined music and spirituality into his artistic vision.
Jones will perform with his group The Baltimore Collective, which he created to provide a platform for regional musicians to perform more closely together.
2025 NEA Jazz Masters Tribute from Kennedy Center
Hosted by Kennedy Center Artistic Director for Jazz Jason Moran, the 2025 NEA Jazz Masters Tribute Concert will take place one-night-only on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET at the Kennedy Center. WZUM will have the event on our homepage - and broadcast the concert Sunday night at 8pm after the Billie Holiday series, “No Regrets.”
