Remembering Richie Cole on WZUM - on the Scene on WZUM

This past weekend, we learned that jazz saxophone great Richie Cole, who moved to Pittsburgh about 7 years ago, passed away at the age of 72 at his home in Carnegie.

His stellar career included stints all over the world, with Buddy Rich, Eddie Jefferson, the Manhattan Transfer, Phil Woods, Freddie Hubbard and a legion more of jazz and entertainment luminaries. In spending his recent years in Pittsburgh and Carnegie, he claimed to have found a new home and new musical vigor.
