The Jazz Scene in Pittsburgh is keeping busy after a cautious, enthusiastic restart in July, August and September. There are so many great performances ahead, you’ll need Jazz Central to keep track!

The pace of jazz and news about jazz continues - with many great performances still to be - including the long-awaited return by vocalist Kurt Elling - long delayed during the COVID-19 Lockdown, and now, at the Greer Cabaret with a new project with guitarist Charlie Hunter on October 26th. We talk with Kurt about the show, the new release, and play music from it, too.

Also coming back to Pittsburgh, vocalist Allan Harris - with his working band from New York with sounds from his latest release, Kate’s Soul Food on October 14.

Meanwhile, while we celebrated Pittsburgh native Art Blakey’s 102nd birthday on October 11th - the City of Pittsburgh was announcing a new loan from the URA to help support the return of dining, living, and JAZZ at the venue long known as James Street on the North Side

The Scene - Thursdays at 6pm, Friday at Saturdays at noon, Sundays at 5pm on WZUM.
