This time on The Scene , the pivot from February to March is full of music for the jazz fan in Pittsburgh, with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Pops and Byron Stripling with American Soundscapes; Endea Owens and the Cookout with vocalist Michael Mayo at MCG Jazz and a wealth of other jazz performances around down, as seen at the Jazz Central Calendar for WZUM.
Midnight at March 1st is also the closing of a gofundme campaign for the 7 year old jazz club and restaurant Con Alma. Getting through the typically challenging months of January and February in the hospitality trade was onerous, and John Shannon, co-owner of Con Alma, says the venue has weathered the current storm.
We hear music from Byron Stripling, Edea Owens, John Shannon, Reid Hoyson with Don and Tony DePaolis, Johnny Costa and Kenny Blake.
The Scene - Thursday night at six, Friday and Saturday at noon, Sunday afternoon at 5 on WZUM.
