We're coming up onto the jazz festival season here in Pittsburgh, from Monroeville to the streets of Pittsburgh. We play some of the music from artists to be fest-featured this hour.
The Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival, downtown Pittsburgh, including a concert with Samara Joy on Friday September 18th followed by two full days in downtown Pittsburgh with multiple stages and a wide array of jazz performers from around the world. We hear music from guitarist Mark Strickland, playing at the Monroeville Jazz Fest, Plus Dwayne Dolphin, at Monroeville and also in the weekend street jazz festival, downtown. We’ll also hear from other PIJF stars, including Sean Jones, Lalah Hathaway, Orrin Evans, Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, drummer Jae Sinnett and more.
Meanwhile, a lot of other Jazz events continue to go on including at City Winery in the strip which features trumpeter Bria Skonberg on the last Sunday of the month. Pittsburgh native - drummer Andrew Kirk returns to Con Alma for a visit August 28th. Jazz at Arts Landing continues on the 25th with drummer, Reid Hoyson and the Reid Hosyon Project.
