Pitt Jazz 56 - with Chad Taylor in the MCG Jazz Spotlight

Marty Ashby welcomes acclaimed drummer, composer, and educator Chad Taylor, Artistic Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Pittsburgh, for a preview of the 56th Annual Pitt Jazz Seminar and Concert.

Founded in 1970 by legendary saxophonist and educator Nathan Davis, the Pitt Jazz Seminar has become one of Pittsburgh's most enduring jazz traditions, bringing world-class musicians together with students and audiences for a week of performances, workshops, and musical discovery.

This year's celebration, Organ Summit, shines a spotlight on the soulful, swinging tradition of the jazz organ and its longstanding partnership with the guitar. Chad joins Marty to explore the week's concerts, educational sessions, and special presentations, culminating in the annual concert at Bellefield Hall on November 7.

It's a musical journey through the artists, sounds, and traditions that make the Pitt Jazz Seminar such an important part of Pittsburgh's vibrant jazz community.

Friday and Sunday night at 6, and 1pm, Saturday on WZUM.
