The Jeff Bush Quartet at the Backstage Bar in Theater Square

Apollo, Pennsylvania native Jeff Bush began playing music at the age of four and hasn’t stopped. While a college student, Bush performed with The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, The Glenn Miller Orchestra and received the Frank Rosolino Memorial Scholarship which featured him at the 1999 International Trombone Festival.

During his 8 years in New York City, Jeff worked with a diverse array of artists including The Toshiko Akiyoshi/Lew Tabackin Big Band, The Count Basie Orchestra, The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Cyrus Chestnut, Kevin Mahogany, Jon Hendricks, and Anthony Braxton. Bush has worked with Paul Anka, Frankie Valli, Christina Aguilera, The Temptations, Southside Johnny, Tom Waits and The New York City Ballet. Jeff spent considerable time playing low brass on the Broadway shows Wonderful Town, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Pajama Game, South Pacific and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. He has appeared many albums and “jingles” for TV Land, Rice-A-Roni and Jeopardy. Jeff debuted as leader in 2010 on “Ain’t So Bad To Swing” for Beezwax Records.

Bush joined the band of superstar Harry Connick Jr in February 2007. During his tenure, Jeff toured the world, made several television appearances, two releases for Columbia Records and performed special shows at the 2008 NBA All Star Game and Pope Benedict’s Concert of Hope.

As an educator, Jeff serves as Adjunct Professor of Jazz Studies at Duquesne University and has served on the faculties of West Virginia Wesleyan College and Youngstown State University. He also works as a clinician and guest soloist throughout the region.
