Slide Hampton and a Trombone-Coming Homecoming to Pittsburgh

 Slide Hampton

Slide Hampton

Jazz in Pittsburgh  - for 100 years - great artists grow here, play here, and sometimes visit back home from their world-hopping careers.

So can be said of Trombonist Slide Hampton.  Celebrating his 86th Birthday this month. There’s a “Trombone-coming" for this Jeannette native this weekend at Wallace’s Whiskey Room + Kitchen in East Liberty.

From his years touring with Woody Herman, his own major projects like the acclaimed WORLD OF TROMBONES, and work with countless other legendary performers, Slide Hampton has had a great and long career that we, as jazz lovers, have much enjoyed

This weekend, Pittsburgh trombone notable Al Dowe will join with vocalist Etta Cox, pianist Jeff Lashway, Roger Humphries, drums, Tony DePaolis, bass and a roomful of other jazz luminaries for a  show presented in cooperation with the Bridge Music Hall.

The music starts at 8pm Saturday Night at Wallace’s Whiskey Room in East Liberty. Visit Jazz Central for more details!
