Today at five, a rebroadcast of our episode of The Scene with Jim Anderson - the Pittsburgh area native with an amazing career - and a featured on the new project by another Pittsburgh Original, Arranger, composer and bandleader Sammy Nestico.

Jim Anderson - engineer and producer of The Sammy Sessions - that great new recording by the US Army Jazz Ambassadors big band of songs and arrangements by Pittsburgh Native Sammy Nestico.  

The Grammy Award winning producer behind the  project is Jim Anderson - a native of Butler, PA, a Duquesne University Graduate and former WDUQ audio engineer and program producer - who also worked with the Muppets and the beloved NPR program Jazz Alive.

He has many stories to tell - we’ll share a few of them as we also hear about the Sammy Sessions - which can be yours of a gift of 30 a month to WZUM

Jim Anderson lives in New York, but he was visiting the pittsburgh area and we got together for coffee and a chance to talk about his career, and the Sammy Sessions

We’ll also hear a favorite from Joe Williams with the Count Basie Orchestra - in recognition of the upcoming MCG Jazz

It’s a major joe Williams Celebration coming at MCG Jazz on Friday November 30 - two shows - with the talented Keith David.

We’ll also hear music connected to another Big show coming to Pittsburgh at the New Hazlett Theater - multi instrumentalist James Carter pays tribute to Rahsaan Roland Kirk on Saturday December 8 - presented by Kente Arts
